Reconstruction of Pump Station #4

2IM Group provided their expertise during the Phase I Pump Station Hydraulic Report preparation and Phase II construction plan preparation as a sub-consultant to HDR Engineering. 2IM Group completed XP-SWMM modeling and mass routing calculations for a new Pump Station. The new pump station, with a capacity of 452 cubic feet per second, will replace and existing pump station operating beyond its design capacity and nearing the end of its useful life.

The work performed included reviewing the previous reports prepared for this pump station and evaluating several revised pump station operation schemes. The original pump operation schemes required that the low flow pumps also operate concurrently with the high flow pumps for future conditions. IDOT requested changes in the operation scheme to reduce the operation of the low flow pumps concurrently with the high flow pumps.

Additionally, 2IM performed Phase II civil/site design for the Pump Station’s reconstruction. This included demolition, site layout, grading, drainage, compensatory storage, and landscaping and erosion control plan development.
